Avoiding Limits
At BetBlanket we provide a simple to use tool that will allow most bettors with the appropriate amount of patience and discipline to show profit. The likely limiter of a user’s profitability is account limiting. It is up to you as a bettor to do your best to camouflage your advantage as long as possible. Successful plus EV (expected value) bettors often face limitations or account restrictions from sportsbooks once they begin to win consistently. Bookmakers use monitoring software and manual reviews to flag “sharp” behavior. However, there are proven methods to delay or even avoid these restrictions, enabling bettors to maximize their profitability while maintaining a ‘regular’ customer profile.
Winning consistently is a great position to be in, but it can also catch the attention of sportsbooks. To extend the life of your accounts and enjoy your plus EV edge longer, it helps to create a betting profile that looks like mainstream, everyday activity. Your first 20 to 50 bets are particularly influential. These initial wagers can set the tone for how sportsbooks assess your activity over the long term. By choosing events and markets that are widely followed, you build a track record that appears in line with typical betting behavior. In this way, you can demonstrate that you’re engaging in common betting rather than exploiting obscure lines. Bet on the major leagues and events.
A casual certainly may browse a game and place a handful of bets on it, similar to what a BetBlanket Basic user will often do. We avoid listing obscure sports and markets to avoid unnecessary scrutiny. There are a plethora of +EV bets available in American mainstream sports daily.
It is preferable to place bets closer to the event start time rather than days prior. Generally, our screens will only show games for the next day/week. Spend time browsing the sportsbook rather than just placing bets in quick succession; this helps build a profile that mimics a “normal” user. Avoid only placing large, high‑ROI bets; instead, mix in smaller, more “normal” wagers alongside your value bets. Bet mostly on main lines rather than obscure markets, and use alternative lines or props less frequently to hide your sharp plays.
Methods
We sort every two-way bet in every covered market by projected EV and display them in our easy to use odds table. The most important aspect of any +EV service is this how one calculates a bets projected EV, as this is what bet selection is generally based on. This is where we excel. In looking at historical odds and results, we have developed methods that properly account for the longshot-underdog bias and the over-under bias baked into markets. This allows for a more accurate representation of what bookmakers believe the true probabilities to be. We then weight the various bookmakers ‘devigged’ odds based on sharpness and hold to arrive at the BetBlanket price, which we believe is the most accurate in the industry and the key to our users’ success.
Arbitrage and SPG’s
Arbitrage is often better in theory (and for sales pitches) then in practice. Yes, mitigating risk is of great use to growing a bankroll. However arbitrage betting requires large bankrolls and large bets. Large bets draw attention from sportsbooks, which is best to be avoided. Often one side of the arbitrage is negative EV, so it is better to simply bet the +EV play. Those pushing arbitrage betting also may fail to mention the risks of a line moving out from under you, leaving you in an unwanted position. BetBlanket can be used for arbitrage, but we simply recommend betting the +EV side(s).
For the vast majority of bettors, it is best to avoid single game parlays. Sportsbooks often put additional hold into these bets, whether any potential correlations warrant it or not. Stick to straight wagers and traditional parlays except when boosts are offered.
About Us
BetBlanket Basic was developed out of a personal need. As someone who models and originates sports I desired to find the best bets to match my desired side. For example, suppose I believe a weather factor is generally underrepresented in the market, and I like the over in a particular MLB game. Sure, one can glance at an old fashioned style odds screen and find the best main total price. Doing so you can maybe get the sportsbook hold down a few percent. However it is better to look at all bets that correspond to that view, both to find bets that have a higher likely EV based on market information and to diversify investment (blanket-betting). For that reason, BetBlanket was developed and tuned for both personal and public use.
Our aim is a bit of an altruistic one. To get an easy to use, accurate, and affordable tool in the hands of casual bettors to match their opinions with their best bets. We aim to take a no frills understated approach that we hope is refreshing in this industry full of charlatans and hype.
BetBlanket was developed and is maintained by former top 25 DFS pro windchimesRrude.
